Description

I decided to fling into the European SDL... I mean the SLI my character who's been rotting too long in my gallery. Here's the whaler. I'm gonna add info from the previous deviation with only a few minor tweaks....

HE IS NOW JOINING THE SLI OF :iconcavalieri:

ID: 0021-I (haha... 21... Eyeshield 21...)
Wins-Loses-Forfeits
0-0-0

NOTE: NOW WITH 20% MORE TEMPLATE MATCHING

INFO:

Name: Doesn't like to tell people, but sometimes called "Ishmael" by his fellow whalers...
prefers to be called "The Whaler"
Occupation: Whaler (duh!)
Age: Mid 20's...
Weight: 150 lbs without boots; 170 lbs with boots
Height: 5' 8"
Weapon: A special whaling harpoon named "Natalie" along with various other whaling harpoons and a pair of heavy whaling boots
(Natalie's the Harpoon with the GREEN RIBBON on it and is Whaler's most prized possession)

History: The Whaler was born in a British port on a foggy night. He was shortly abandoned in an orphanage afterward. As long as he could remember, he gained a love for the ocean and wished to sail the seven seas for all of his lifetime. He also gained a love for hunting and trained to hunting with heavy long-ranged weaponry like throwing spears. When he became a teenager, he became a cabin boy for a whaling vassal and further trained to becoming a whaler. He accomplished said dream after traveling on numerous whaling trips and learned many languages from his adventures. He most notably learned French sailor rough-housing and kick boxing on a French whaling ship (this would later become the martial art known as savate).

His journeys in whaling commonly take him where the whales are, more notably Terranova and Iceland. However, he seems to come to Italy sometimes to take a break from it all and meet new people and tell tales of his adventures.

Fighting style: A skilled harpooner, the Whaler is known for hitting his target most of the time. It is said he can hit a fly on a bleached wall from a hundred yards away, but that's just a rumor...
His secondary fighting skill comes in the form of French rough-house kicking, which is useful with his heavy ten pound boots that he wears all the time. He learned this skill from working on a French whaling vessel when he was young...

Dream: He hopes to one day find the legendary bleached whale that has terrorized the seas for far too long and has taken the lives of many a whalers. He hopes to kill such a beast and gain a legendary reputation from doing so.

Morality: When it comes to hunting animals, he is merciless and swift. He believes that animals are meant to be hunted by man but must be fought fairly and head on to make the animals' lives were not wasted by cheap trickery. Therefore, he would not scoop so low as to use a firearm like other hunters that he know.
As for people, he feels that intelligent and morally good people should not be killed in the world. Murders and rapists who do not feel bad for their actions, however, are considered beasts in his eyes and he would not hesitate to kill such people. As a hunter (or whaler in his case) it is not wrong to kill such people for they scoop to the level of beasts with their actions and reasoning.

Misc:
He enjoys reading Plato's "The Republic" and carries a small book of it at all times. Should he loose the copy, he would go to the ends of the earth to find a second book.

His harpoon Natalie was in fact his whaling teacher's, who gave it to him as a "graduation" present.

Despite being called "The Whaler," he does not hunt for whales all the time... However, most of his pay comes from the bounty of whale blubber and oil.

Has a preference for girls with long hair and beautiful eyes, so much in fact that he becomes unnaturally shy when near them.

Cool character! :D

Is he based on one of the characters in Moby Dick?
